Indie Music Label Creates Playlist For Audiosurf

March 10, 2008
audiosurfIn a perfect example of indie cross-pollination, music label Asthmatic Kitty has posted a collection of songs meant for the music based, synesthetic Audiosurf.

Audiosurf adds Asthmatic Kitty's recognition to its multiple IGF awards, including the 'Audience award,' it took at this year's Independent Games Festival, not to mention the overwhelming support it's had on Steam's download list since its release in mid-February.

The nearly overnight success creates its race track like levels based on the music a player adds to the game, and from what they say Asthmatic Kitty had a definite sound, and so gameplay, in mind when creating the list, which includes 2005's loved and unavoidable Sufjan Stevens.

“The collection of songs also subverts videogame music at large, which often leans to either established "indie" acts, or the predictable electronic stereotypes,” instead these songs, “emphasize distinction, intensity, and dynamic,” Asthmatic Kitty writes.
