Videogame Sex

lillipopgirlThere are many “holy grails” in this medium. Art, emotion, cultural legitimacy, just to name a few. Then there is sex, tasteful sex, not the large breasts and complicated jiggly-physics that bring a wholly different meaning to “the uncanny valley.” That kind of sexuality game makers have pretty much perfected.

The holy grail sex has more to do with intimacy and relationships. It's the kind that Daniel Floyd, professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, calls for in his recent YouTube video exploring the subject. You won't find a lot of details on how to make sex in games better --it's only nine minutes long-- but it does serve as a good primer for more discussion.

Also, RockPaperShotgun commenter Darkripper points to this scene from "30 Rock" on the Uncanny Valley and why a porn game would never work. It's actually a good explanation if you're still not sure what the term means.
