Panic! At the Disco and Dashboard Confessional Headline Rock Band Tour

July 31, 2008

Picture_17MTV is throwing the full weight of its considerably deep pockets and mainstream credibility behind Rock Band. October will see the launch of the "first inaugural Rock Band Live" tour, which will send headliners Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional around the country armed with both real and plastic instruments.

At each venue, teeny bopping alt gamers will be able to form up into bands and compete for the chance to perform between the live acts, which also include the Plain White T's and the Cab.

Dashboard Confessional front man Chris Carrabba is apparently a huge fan of Rock Band. So much so that he joked with MTV about sneaking into the contest himself:

I went and got a fake ID with a different name, and I have a pair of sunglasses and a hat," he deadpanned. "[The game is] incredibly accurate. ... It's identical. And it's so intuitive for me, as a player, that I have become better at my instrument. It's gotten me a hotter girlfriend, it's made me better-looking, and I've made more money since playing it.

Winks not included.
